Sage Instant Accounts Plus question

    Hello Accounts peeps,
Was thinking of getting this from Ebay for ~€75 as opposed to €200 odd from Sage, question is can I use the UK version? the only difference I can see is the online UK VAT upload, and as far as I can make out the Irish version just exports an XML file for input into a VAT3 form so no real big functionality benefit. Any comments would be appreciated, I'm a sole trader with need for the basic stock control hence the 'Plus' version.
    Thanks a mil.

    Hi,

Many people more qualified than me to answer this I m sure but for what it's worth, if you are planning to opt for what is called the cash method of accounting for VAT, you should know that there is a major difference between the Irish and UK "cash" methods. I won't get too technical but your liabilities may be caculated wrongly if the UK method is used. I don't know if the purely UK version of the software would allow you to choose the Irish method - someone else might know.

When Sage 50/Instant is installed it will automatically pick up Irish settings from your PC providing your PC is set up for Ireland.

There is no difference between the version in Ireland or the UK.

The only think to watch out for is what version you are buying on EBAY. Latest version is V2009 or v15.

Sage Instant brand new is only €149 + Vat here and you would have more comeback

thats great Nigel, thanks, I already phoned Sage this am and negotiated the price down to €95 plus VAT from €207 ex VAT(for the instant Plus)as they just couldn't compete with the reseller in the UK:confused: The version they are sending is V14 but the girl told me the upgrade to 15 which is out in March will be a free upgrade.
Looking forward to getting my books in order.
