    Hi all,
I am after noticing that my passport is out of date and I am due to fly to Manchester on Friday evening on a family holiday. I know i can use my drivers licence instead but my problem is that I had planned to use the online check in service which requires a valid passport. Is it still possible for me to check in at the desk in the airport? no doubt a small fee will have to be paid

Yes you can and unsurprisingly enough, their FAQ tells you the fee:

Unfortunately I'm not in a great postition to go to Cork to the passport offices this week. But woud i have to go to the whole bother of birth cert, garda signs or just bring down the old one if I could manage to get a day off?

You have to fill out all the forms (including having Garda witness/endorse the photos)
