I look forward to seeing the results.

I looked up the ISSF rule book and can't find the answer (or can't read); can you use a double action/single action revolver in single action in these competitions? Thanks.

Yes, you can, and it's been done before but the semis have an advantage with the rapid fire stage.

Apologies for the delay in posting these results. Been busy with other stuff and just didn't get around to it until now.

Thanks for posting. My practice is not going too bad but my rapid fire is pants. One handed is a different kettle completely, and my revolver at just under 3lbs is killing me after a couple of minutes; I'm flailing about like a new born foal, must eat more spinach.......:)

That's not mad heavy for this game. Most of the target pistols weigh between 1000gr and 1300gr which is just.. eh... under 3lbs :D

You don't need to be holding for minutes. For this competion, the longest you're going to be unsupported is 20 seconds.

The trick is to practice your lift and hold. The quicker you can get your pistol up and sights aligned the less time you're actually holding on the target and consequently the less strain you'll feel.

The secret is in your grip. If you can have your grip such that the sights are always aligned, you've got more than half the battle completed.

I was thinking about the Hammerli x-esse (how IS that pronounced anyway, I've hear excess, ex ease, ex easy and ex essay?) but I'm glad that I am using a heavier target firearm knowing that some specialised target firearms for the discipline weigh in at around the 3lb mark. I'll likely get a 'made for' in the future, that is if we ever have an opportunity to get another target pistol in the country.

Oh, right. I ain't doing the lift thing; I'm really only shooting then resting. Force of habit: lifting, aiming, emptying. Discipline!

Thanks a million for the advice.:)

Pretty much like the two letters X.S.

As far as I know it's going out of production and is being replaced by the Walther SP22. The X-Esse weighs about 1040gr. It's not the lightest; the Matchguns MG2 weighs 880gr and the Walther SSP is 970gr.

If you were thinking of getting something, I'd highly recommend getting an air pistol. About the same weight, but they are more muzzle heavy being longer. The advantage is that you can practice anywhere you can get a safe 10m, the targets are cheap, the ammo is cheap and if you then get a .22 target pistol, you could always go with the same manufacturer and swap grips. Certainly Pardini use the same grips on their air pistols as their .22 pistols and as I said before, the grips are the most important part of the pistol.
Thanks a million for the advice.:)
    You're welcome.
