There's no problem with painting them at all if you take a look through the pics thread you'll see lots of examples of painted airsoft gear.

Loads a different techniques you can use, layering, stencils etc.

I'd love to do a camo job on a gun soon, must get one it would suit.

Montana Gold (brand name) do a some great sprays in just about every colour (including pink), they're a bit easier to get over here too. I have about a dozen cans in various colours that I've used for both airsoft gear painting and doing prop work.

Krylon is only known as they do green, brown, and magnolia.

What other easy brands to get are there?

Its a fiver for the various motor sprays I get in motorfactors, clear laquers, matt blacks etc. but the black and I imagine any colours aren't great.

Are there any properly hard wearing easy(ish) to get paints worth using?

Or a spray on matt hard coat if there is such a thing.

That one I mentioned above, I've found that to be pretty good. It was recommended to me by a graffiti artist in Canada and I found it to be just as hard wearing as he said. They do matt colours as well, and several shades of each colour so doing a multi-tone green or brown wouldn't be hard.

Spray painting AEGs can turn out very good, but from my minor experience with spray painting various things, the best advise I can give is have patience. Several light coats give an infinitely better finish than one heavy coat.

The key thing is preparation, make sure the surface is smooth, clean and use an appropriate primer coat before doing the main colour.

B&Q and Woodies do a whole range of aerosols, theres some great mat finish colours in there that are intended for painting flower pots too.
halfords will make pretty much any colour you want too, they have sample books in there.,

Its on Crow street in Temple Bar.

Most of the paint in All City is gloss paint so I don't know how that would work out on your AEG.

QFT. Some of the best paint jobs I've seen use foliage.

Over on ArniesAirsoft they have a painted gun thread, some great examples in there.
