dhb clothing sizes

Hi .. looking to get some shorts or bib shorts and was looking at the dhb line ... reasonably priced and lots of decent reviews ... but what's it with the sizing ...

In most other brands, I would go for a medium with a waist size of 31-33inches ... but it seems for dhb has medium at waist size 35inches and small is 31 inches ...

Anyone have any experience with these .. is the medium closer to large from other brands .. and should I be getting small ..

I used their sizing chart and it worked out to be accurate so I would trust that.

DHB is wiggle's own brand so the chart is coming from the horse's mouth as it were

Yup, sizing chart worked perfectly for me, in fact the shorts are an excellent fit although my bib tights have about an inch extra in length than I need.

Chest/Waist measurements were fine for me, I am a "slight" guy.

same here, sizing chart worked for me, and unlike DirkVoodoo, I am not "slight".Their sizing seems to be more realistic compared to the real tight fitting cycle gear you normally get which seems to be sized at least 2 sizes smaller than conventional clothing

The Wiggle charts are pretty accurate. The dhb stuff is on the large size, e.g. I reckon a "medium" in dhb = "large" in for example Descente (Canada) and probably XL in an Italian brand. Certainly with the shorts anyway, I have dhb bib tights in M and I take L in Descente and XL in Italian stuff.

I've got a pair of the DHB Merston bib tights and the sizes were pretty much spot on.

Thanks guys ... much appreciated .. I am a waist 33 ... so might as well go for Medium ... rather than small ... as small is only sized a 31 ... but atleast if its spot on .. I will have some space for the blubber around the middle.

i have dhb bibs (wore them yesterday's spin actually) and i just checked - they're medium. you know about how big i am. my waist is about 31", but i think i went for the M over the S because i'm about 6' tall, and didn't want the shoulder straps cutting in too much (as they do with by boards tights).

M would be right for you i think short circuit.

I'm resurrecting this thread to ask whether anyone can advise on the dhb Pace Roubaix Bib Tight with Pad 2011.

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-pace-roubaix-bib-tight-with-pad-2011/

Looking at the chart it suggests S, L, or XXXL for me depending on which measurement I take.

I'm tall and skinny so I want a reasonably tight fit for waist and chest but not such a small size that the shoulder straps cut in. What is the height like in these? Are they generous enough that I could go for L (recommended height 6'1") even though I'm nearer 6'5"?

the size charts are spot on, i maxed out the credit card and got base layer, l/s jersey and tights all fit perfect!!

I just got mine in the post on Monday.
    I'm 6ft, 35-36in waist.
Got a large and for me the fit is perfect.
There's a good bit of stretch in them (vertically & horizontally), as in I didn't think I'd fit when I took them out of the packet, but I'd think at 6'5" you'd be best guided by the height on the size chart.
Material not unlike the Nike running tights I have if that's any use.

I'm 6'2" and skinny and got an L. It's fairly tight both width and height. I'd recommend you go for something bigger than L.
I'd say the width-based sizings are based on the max it'll take rather than the actual with of the material.

The sizing chart is accurate. I chose the size based on height. I'm 5ft 8 in, 32 waist and bought the S. Even though the waist is an inch smaller they fit snug, not too tight, there is a little bit of length left in the leg..... I bought the super roubaix's, figured I'd need them for the upcoming cold snap. They do the job perfect.

I got dhb bib and top, the top was too tight for my liking but bibs were perfectly fine

As others say, I would look at height as your primary measure. I'm pretty dumpy at 5'11", 35-37 inch waist depending on who made my pants :D. I went for an M and it's very snug. Height is spot on, I wouldn't dare go any smaller and I suspect that even if I went for an L, it still wouldn't be baggy on me. So if you're in doubt, go for the bigger size and you probably won't have an issue. When you see them first, they look like they would barely fit a girl, but they're just wetsuit-snug.

I have the 3/4 lengths and they're super warm. Will probably buy another pair :o

I have a set of the Merstons from last year in XL, which (as far as I can tell) the ones you mention seem to be replacing. I'm 6'3", but about a 34" waist, so not especially skinny, and I find these a perfect fit. Mind you, they were also a good fit back when I got them and was about 2.5 stones heavier/fatter! In terms of height/leg length/shoulder straps though, I would think any smaller a size would be too small.

Lycra is stretchy, I'll grant you, but I think these have more stretch around than along. I think I could be a good bit skinnier than I am now, and this same set would still be a decent fit.

Thanks for all the help. I took the advice about basing size selection on height and went for the XXL.

Overall they're a good fit, and not baggy around the midriff or anything like that. The shoulder straps are a bit snug, but not tight, when I'm standing up but they're a good fit once I'm actually on the bike. If wanted a more generous fit there then I probably could have got away with the XXXL, but the XXL is a nice fit around the body and legs. The pad is certainly better than my older Cannondale bibshorts, and the fleece-lined lycra helps keep the cold out. The only (very minor) quibble is that the zip pulls on the legs aren't spring-loaded so they'll rattle a little unless you put socks or overshoes over them.

I just got a Windslam Jersey in XL, according to the sizing chart it's a 45.5" chest and 41" waist.

I'm a 44/38 and it's painted on and seem particularly short cut for a jersey.
