    Hey,
Does anyone know if it is legal to sell copies of famous paintings by Monet etc, clearly marked as copies in Ireland?

Depends on the painting, many are copyrighted...

Also a few gallery will have sold the image rights on their paints to someone and they holders of such rights might take a dim view of others selling copies.

Apart from the painting being copyrighted (which it will be if the artist died less than 70 years ago, so no problem with Monet on that score), there is almost certainly copyright in the photo itself. Where are you getting the photo from that you will be selling copies of? If you don't take the phot yourself, you need permission from the photographer, again unless s/he died more than 70 years ago.
