    hello,
have just decided what windows we will go with (in a retro fit)
the supplier has asked for a 50% deposit about 6,000.is this usual or what is?
they will have to come from sandinavia so i guess that has to be taken in to account?

This is typical sadly . Be prepared for the delivery guy to hassle you for the final cheque even before you have counted all the windows on the truck . Insist on spending at least an hour to check over the delivery first

On the positive side any importers on Scandinavian windows IO have dealt DO have good after sales service . Broken handles or sticky hinges are rectified quickly without much fuss

I have personal experience of badly installed scandinavian windows & doors. Poor threshold detail resulting in leak. Irish "manufacturer" impossible to deal with.

Pay them 50% deposit, read your contract and make sure its correct!
Do not pay another cent until they are correctly installed.
