Good evening gents (and ladies perhaps!). Bit of a long shot here but any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking for the starting 15 for Monaghan when they beat derry in the 1985 Ulster Championship back in 85. Have tried googling but no joy whatsoever.

    Cheers!

Pighead, I'm sure that team has been mentioned on here before. (I'll have a look).

All I can remember is that damned Nudie Hughes and they way he used to torment Donegal. :D

No help here, but that was some team.

Was in Croker to see Donegal winning the AI Vocational Final on Easter Sunday when they beat Armagh to win the League in 85.

Also in Castleblayney when they hammered Donegal in the Championship.

If it wasn't for the Kerry 3 in a row team from 84-86, that team would have won an AI.

not sure of positions etc but this may not be far off

    Paddy Linden
    Bernie Murray
    Gerry McCarville
    Declan Loughman
    Ciaran Murray
    Gerry Hoey
    Eugene Sherry
    David Byrne
    Hugo Clerkin
    Ray McCarron
    Declan Flanagan
    Eamon Murphy
    Eamon McEneaney
    Nudie Hughes

there's a fair chance i've mixed some of that up with 1988 team but there wasn't a whole pile of difference between both teams

How many years did declan loughman play inter-county football for? I knew he was there in 88, but i didn't realise he was playing in 85. he must have been 17/18.

Cheers lads. Had a lot of those names already but was hoping to get a definitive starting 15 to settle the argument for once and for all. Seems to be pretty hard to come by. Wil keep on trying.

Brendan Murray, note not Bernie, was playing that day - brother of Ciaran.
