Oh cameras from Aldi/Lidi are crap. Picture quality is terrible.

Thats not a bargain at all. its a crappy brand and crappy camera. For the same price you can get a much better canon camera from Argos

You may have scared off MMCD from posting a bargain ever again there.
He could be the person who finds XBOX 360's for 119.99 in Tesco Sligo in a years time. Damn you.

Cheapest Canon camera in Argos is €69.99 and it's 7mp. Having said that it would still be better than the Aldi one - they're usually rebranded Vivitar ones which are pretty sh1te.

Despite being 9mp, the lens on those is pretty poor. e.gif

I've only owned one Vivitar Camera and it was the biggest piece of **** I've ever used. Picture quality, even in daylight, was shocking - grainy, off color, and there was a delay in between capturing an image on the lcd and what it actually saved - leaving you with pictures of people looking all sorts of directions thinking the picture was taken.

Wouldn't buy a Vivitar again at any price point.

number of Mega Pixels is just size of photo, quality depends on lenses & size of CCD sensor

you can find lot of 3.2MP cameras that have a lot better pictures than 9MP ones

Indeed the N95 is vey good. It has an autofocus lens.

A lot of people seem to think the ammount of mega pixels is a major factor, when in fact the lens and processing engine are much more important.

I have a 4mp Canon Ixus for about 4 years now with excelent results. Okay it does not come up near to the overall quality of my Canon EOS 30D, but unless you want to print lossless results bigger than 10x8 anything over 4mp is of no advantage, when lens/processing are equal.

I picked up a Canon PowerShot A470 in Argos for €69 today, previous camera broke yesterday. Not very nice looking and a bit bulky but I just needed a basic replacement.

Have yet to try it out but it gets very solid reviews and at the price it seems to be about the best around.

    hmmm

Was going to pick one of these up but now think otherwise..

So if one had say between 100 and 200 euro to spend on a camera what
    would be a good bargain??
