Coke > Coke Zero > Coke diet.

You'd need to have your taste buds removed to not taste the difference!

On a side note, is anybody else grateful that pepsi max tastes far better the normal pepsi! If I didnt know about insulin release and human lipid metabolism and carcinogenics, I'd swear they were cheating nature with pepsi max!

you jokin, world of difference. cant stand diet coke. take it from a coke addict

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,837 ✭✭✭abelard

    Absolutely, I'd know immediately.

The sweetness from Diet Coke tastes, almost, more artificial, if such a thing is possible when it comes to Coke!

I actually find Diet Coke repulsive compared to regular Coke.

used to hate diet coke, but now drink about 3 litres a day, might have a problem :)

There's a huge difference between Coke Zero and Diet Coke IMO - Zero actually tastes like Coke actually nicer I think. There's no aftertaste like in diet and you really can't tell it's sugar free. I can't drink Diet Coke anymore has to be Zero.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,293 ✭✭✭Dinkie

Yep! I also think diet coke from a can tastes better then diet coke from a bottle :confused:

It took me ages to learn to like diet coke after years of drinking the regular stuff.

Coke zero is quite nice though.

    yep - easy. :P

great now i want a glass of coke (Diet)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 256 ✭✭wintear

Any true fan of the real thing can tell the difference. Diet and Coke zero are nothing compared to real coke. Just like the version over here does not taste as nice as the stuff in the UK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 611 ✭✭✭MonicaBing

Yup, i can sooo tell the difference between the two, Real coke rocks, you cant bate nothing on a hot day but coke from a can, it just doesnt taste the same from the bottle:rolleyes:

used to hate diet coke, but now drink about 3 litres a day, might have a problem :)

 Dude, that cannot be good for you...

yeah can taste Diet Coke a mile off, horrible stuff.
    Tastes like plastic to me.

thought u said 'tastes like pepsi' on first reading, i wouldnt be a big coke drinker, but prefer the taste of diet, it actually does taste more like pepsi, but then i hardly drink pepsi at all...

edit, is usually the vodka that im worried about,,,

You can definitely tell the difference. One tastes like drinking slightly dissolved sugar and hurts your teeth, the other doesn't.

huge differance. I rather the taste of diet coke.
    Pepsi FTW though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

The difference is definitely huge, but I actually prefer Diet Coke - regular Coke is just far too sweet and sugary, as well as being full of **** - not that Diet Coke is healthy, or anything of the sort, but at least it won't make you fat.

The winner of 0 cal drinks is definitely Pepsi Max. Unbelievable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,386 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

Huge difference, coke zero is far more similar but I can still get a different sensation with the "syrupy" feeling of regular coke.

Diet drinks also make you absorb alcohol quicker, so you get drunk on less, so you save money and take in way less calories.

Diet club orange is my fav diet drink. Still has 10-11% orange juice in it, so not sugar free, but keeps it really tasty.

A wee treat to myself every now and again, Cold can of Coke, Bag of cheese n' Onion Tayto & a bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk! How's that for keeping it Irish?:P

Oh actually what about Finches Rock Shandy? Jayz that'd knock the thirst outta ya..:p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 302 ✭✭tannytantans

Yup definitely.I try to drink diet coke to be good but you cant beat the full fat stuff! And its so much nicer from a can :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 170 ✭✭zreba

Yup definitely.I try to drink diet coke to be good

I think you guys just don't realize that sweeteners harm your body much more than sugar does

Agreed. I drink, give or take, 4 litres of coke a day. I don't like Diet coke and refuse to drink it. I've actually cut down on my intake as it used to be about 6 litres a day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 302 ✭✭tannytantans

Oh i know that the Diet Coke is by no means healthy.I meant good in a no calories way...

Also after my last post i had to go out and buy a bottle of coke!

definitely can.. diet coke taste more like that fake sugar (splenda and stuff) than normal coke

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,383 ✭✭✭emeraldstar

I find Diet Coke far nicer than regular Coke and also think it tastes much sweeter.

Regular Coke has a horrible aftertaste.

I'm a bit addicted to Diet Coke actually. And Pepsi Max. It's really not good.

Okay, I have to point out that 4 litres of Coke contains roughly 1700 calories - about 75% of your daily calorie allowance. If you're not overweight now, you will be very shortly if you keep drinking that much coke. Not to mention all the bad things it's doing to your body!

I'm far from overweight and i've been drinking coke that regularly for the last 10 years. I know it's not good for me but i point blank don't like Water, tea, coffee, Milk so if i'm having a drink with my dinner it'll always be some fizzy drink and coke is my preference.

If not overweight I would worry about diabetes, I knew a really skinny lad who drank about 1L of lucozade per day and got diabetes at around 23.

Coke is around 11% sugar, 4L is 440g per day, this is a pound of sugar everyday! half a bag.

I hate normal coke and I love diet coke. I can generally tell the difference by looking at it. There are slight differences in colour, bubbles, froth when poured. Taste wise... it is very different.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

I definitely can tell the difference, my teeth feel coated after I drink normal Coke.

That said - Coke Zero is the king of colas, I drink about 2L of it a day.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,493 ✭✭✭DazMarz

There is defo a difference in the taste of Diet Coke and Regular Coke. Could tell nearly instantly. But still like both. Don't really care either way which one I drink... tho if I want to avoid a ribbing from the lads, it's just Regular Coke!

no doubt about it... i'm a bit of a coke addict.... you don't get even half of the rush from diet coke.... also, coke zero is more similar to coca cola but is still not quite the same....

now if u asked me to tell the difference between 7-up and diet 7-up :D

I can always tell the difference between diet and full sugar versions of all soft drinks after a sip - i come in handy in restaurants when the waiter mixes up the drinks.
I have to admit i would choose coke zero over the other cokes TBH.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,458 ✭✭✭CathyMoran

I think that I can tell the difference but if I am having it out I always get my husband to taste it first qs he has very accute taste buds, being a type 1 diabetic it is important that I get the diet one! I have tasted the regular one and I do not like it, it tastes too "heavy".

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,154 ✭✭✭Dolbert

Oh yeah, there's no comparison taste-wise. For some reason though the full-sugar version seems to make me feel sick

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 467 ✭✭aoibhebree

They taste completely different, regular Coke leaves that horrible coating on my teeth and burns my tummy :(

I love Diet Coke, I'm not under any illusions that it's good for me or anything, but at least it won't make me fat! Anyone else find it awful addictive though? I could go for a couple of weeks without having any, but once I taste it I keep getting cravings for it for a few days after!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,995 ✭✭✭Sofiztikated

Because its the couple of glasses of Coke that will make you fat, not the quantities of other crap you eat!
Full fat coke, FTW, its just proper. Diet coke tastes too much like sweetener, can't abide that taste. Coke Zero will do in a pinch, but can still taste the sweeteners.
Although with 7up and diet 7up, its very easy, diet is a lot fizzier.

You might want to get tested for a stomach ulcer :(

Diet Coke is horrible, tastes like diluted plastic. I don't drink fizzy drinks that much. After getting over my Lucozade addiction, I'm not in any hurry to replace it with something equally as bad, like Coke. I had some serious withdrawal symptoms after coming off the Lucoz, which goes to show just how bad these are.

Yup I can taste the difference.
