Nikon UK will be introducing a second price increase on the 1st March 2009 which will affect Nikon’s Imaging and Optics products.

The price increase is due to the relative weakness of Sterling and the continued strength of the Yen. A range of product groups will be affected however the COOLPIX series and selected digital SLRs will not see an increase.

An updated Recommended Retail Price (RRP) list will be available to view at www.nikon.co.uk from 1st March 2009. Nikon will continue to review its pricing structures.

Any idea what sort of increase it'll be? Would it be like a percentage increase on the selected products. Was saving to buy a couple of lenses in a few months time, but mite have to stretch to get them now rather than waiting for the increase.

    LOL

You'll find all the Japanese manufacturers will increase pricing accordingly, it's not limited to Nikon.

I purchased 2 Nikon lens just a week before Christmas in Calumet, Belfast. A 70-200 f2.8 and a 17-55 f2.8 and after Christmas they went up in price by approx 359 sterling for the 2 lens.

Canon will follow that example, unfortunately. At least Canon EU and US. Hopefully HK will keep the prices the same.

Why are Sony any different Landyman? The problem seems to be external to any particular company, are they not all having to deal with currency differences?

I love my 30 euro Nikon lenses :P - 2nd hands are freely available on the internet (try that for your Sony/Minolta ;) )

I'm just so glad I don't need to buy right now. The good days with prices seem to be over.

Didn't Sony also increase prices in Jan??

I vote for anarchy - lets just hit the likes of Conn-artist cameras and take what we want! :P

Right, ordering new lens on pay day this Friday then, enough waiting!
Will be broke for all of March, but, ah well.

I've got more glass than I know what to do with. For now I'm concentrating on light and diffusion.

I wonder have the price rises anything to do with Nikon being caught for almost $40 million in the bankruptcy of Circuit City and Ritz Camera in the US?
