I wasn't going to start driving other than my brother gave me his old one, but after leaving it in to have something fixed on it the guy said that I shouldn't bother and I should get another. I would have to scrap the old one and knew of one that I could get for about €600(I'm completely broke).

On the old car I had gotten a years tax(had money then) and years insurance both started in Jan.

I've seen that I can claim a refund in tax

I'm not sure what go's on with changing the insurance over.
Also what to I do to scrap the car for parts(it is a good car except for the bit that needs to be fixed)

I feel really crap now, I was doing well at the driving and regaining some money after the tax/insurance/5 new tires.

I had also just gotten used to it's weird gears, I'll have to get used to normal gears now.

Changing the insurance over is a twenty second process by phone to your insurer but there may be a higher charge for the replacement car.

Yeah insurance is easy to change but if the €600 car has a bigger engine than the one you insured you may have to pay an bit extra on top of your existing premium, or if it is smaller you will get some money back. When your calling the insurance company value the car higher than what you paid for it, with quinn anyways they gave me a lower premium when i valued my car higher and if you have an accident they will only pay out on the market price of your car no matter if you insured it for €1 or €10000.
As for your car you have now, if you want rid of it put it in the free section in http://adverts.ie/ and see if someone wants it.

He took the rear axle off(maybe front one too) and it turns out there is a lot of rust that will need to be fixed(for nct). It will cost more to fix than the car is worth. I'll actually be able to buy a car, suzuki with 2years NCT and 1year tax for cheaper than it would be to fix.

I don't really know too much about what was wrong because he rang my father instead of me and when we went out there to collect the car they were talking about everything so much that I forgot what he said to me.
