tesco in newbridge had an easter egg section before the new year had started.
that kind of attitude to profits just takes the fun out of everything nowadays.

Have some good deals on wine too. €6.99 Prosecco is delicious. Cheapest sparkling wine I can find, and very tasty.

Was in Supervalu yesterday and some great value in there.
they are battling against the sterlings prices now and are very keen.

the baby milk formula is now €8.38 (which is about the same as the north).
the same value was on most of the essentials.

Was delighted to see them buck up as i can do the shopping locally now, saving myself some money, time and helping generate a wee bit to the local economy.

i got their own brand dishwasher 48 tablet pack for 7.49 for over the weekend. as i was throwing out the old box, i noticed it had 5.99 printed for the exact same box. 25% increase over the space of a couple of months.

so don't get blinded by 'special offers' because other item might be creeping up to keep a healthy profit margin.

Obiously the Super Value in Firhouse is in a different timezone because they never ever have any good deals or special offers.

I've just had a supervalu striploin steak for my dinner with some fried onions. I was a little afraid 'cos the last steak I got from them was really bad - tough and grisly. But this steak was very good and excellent value - €6 for two with a kilo of onions thrown in free.

Super Valu in Leixlip has those Knor pastas for 99c, down from €1.99

Tried one of them last week, they are absolutely disgusting compared to normal pasta, best avoided even for 99c.

Some of the other offers flatter to deceive too, for example chicken breast in mushroom sauce with free spring onion mash for €5.99, save €3.29 (no way is a bit of mash worth that).

Best thing to do if you have time is trawl through Dunnes/Tesco/Supervalu/etc., focus on the really good deals (recent mince and chicken offers in SV for example), stock up and you will do pretty well.

these offers apply to the supervalu stores in the following areas
    Donohoe's Ballyconnell
    Tarpey's Cavan
    Foy's Cootehill
    McEvoy's, Virginia
    Supervalu, Kingscourt
    Harris', Baileboro
    Tarpey's Drumalee

Bounty special edition 2 roll 5.25sqm was 3.40 now 99c
Mcvities rich tea 300g was 1.19 now 68c
Tropicana original/ smooth orange 1 ltr was 3.30 now 2.10
muller crunch corner/ crumble range 150g was 86c now 61c
Lynx body spray 150 ml was 4.29 now 2.92
    herbal essence shampoo/conditioner range 250ml was 3.60 now 2.44
colgate total toothpaste family 100ml was 3.30 now 2.28
Kellogs coco pops 600g was 3.96 now 2.10
Nescafe gold blend 200g was 8.59 now 6.10

i've also heard the aptamil baby milk is on offer too (i think its around 9 euro) but its only until the weekend they usually change the offers on a saturday.

From what I remember from working there the easter eggs offer is dependant on the owner taking the offer on as it can usually work out at a loss to the store.
I know the offer is on in both tarpey's supervalu in cavan if anyone else knows the other stores maybe they could add the location so people go to the right stores.

Is this all aptamil or just the 6mt +. This is currently on offer in a few places at 2 for €24(900g).

    Aids:
"the baby milk formula is now €8.38 (which is about the same as the north).
the same value was on most of the essentials."
which brand is this, that's a great price. Is it farleys?

Bargains are only bargains if they are things we would have bought anyway. Not much point in getting a 'bargain' if iy's something we hadn't intended buying in the first place.

My son loves them also! (but I have to say they are not very nice)

It certainly is nice to see Supervalu having decent special offers. Especially when they are in a lots of the smaller towns/villages nationwide where there may not be all the other stores.
