Only to Kilkenny? Hmm fairplay to them I suppose.

I heard that in some uni in the UK a couple of students made it all the way to Hawaii! Impressive when you consider you're not allowed to spend one cent of your own money.

I regret not taking part tbh. I'm defo up for it next year.

problem with getting to Hawaii is the cost of getting home......
Going by this years standard, if you managed to hitch a lift to cork you'd win it... home from there wouldnt cost too much...
Only chance you have of getting over seas is having a contact in an airline who can wrangle a ticket...
You might be able to convince someone who owns a boat and is sailing across to england to give you a lift over, and then try to hitch from there..
Could work, but you wont get to far on a small yacht in the 36 hours that you have... and its weather depending...

If you spend more than the cost of <snip> to get home, its not really worth while....

could you not just arrange with a friend to meet up with you and give you money or a lift or plane tickets or anything. How are they supposed to know you didn't cheat?

Because it's for charity, and people tend not to cheat on stuff like that.

The team that got to Inishmore* were pronounced the winners I think. The others that left the island had to pay for flights/were caught sneaking on to the ferry etc.

*I am willing to be corrected on which island they went to, it was weeks ago but I think it was Inishmore.

if there's money involved people will cheat. charity or not.

You seriously underestimate the pettyness of some of your fellow students.

could you not just get a friend of yours to give you a lift to cork/kerry. that's not cheating is it?

And couldn't you get mommy or daddy to buy you a ticket to Tahiti, that's not your own money! (Even if the government thinks it is. ;p)

The rules seem very vague and anyway there's nobody there to enforce them!
