I want to fill a small hole in a plasterboard wall. It is 30mm deep and about 5mm diameter. i put some quick drying pollyfilla http://www.lenehans.ie/lenehans/Main/Product2.asp?ProdID=411 in but it did not dry just turned powdery. Dried grand around the hole

But i used the same pollyfilla on a place where a small piece of a solid wall chipped off and it did the job great, just a little sand and it is perfect. Should i have stuffed something into the hole first

http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-repair-holes-in-plasterboard says it should be wet first

This could be a few things

    1) Most likely filler dried too quick when in the hole. Wetting the hole avoids the moisture from the filler being sucked into the wall. Just be careful not to wet any electrical connections in the process.

    2) Filler not mixed properly. You should knead the squeezy tube for a minute or two to make sure it was well mixed before you use it.

    3) Filler too dry in the first place. A previously used tube of filler will dry out over a few weeks and is no longer a soft paste.

There's no need to plug the hole first.

Edit: It dried overnight and i put more filler in today as it was not flush with wall. Worked grand, sanded and painted , thanks again
