Anyone else watching Masterchef on BBC2? Who do you think is going to win?

The contestants this year are nothing much to write home about, not like the young one from last year.

Loving the Guardian blogs on it too, esp about the two shouty presenters :D

    I'm hoping Christopher wins!

My Girlfriend is totally glued to it, she too is a big fan of Chris, but this presents a big problem for me > having to cook my own dinner while she sits there every night watching other people cook food for the judges :D

Great programme though > Chris to win.

Stung!! Yeah, it is totally addictive. I hope you've been practising your pigeon ravioli...

I don't think Matt the Merciless will last for much longer.

I've missed all this season of it. Great show. Is next week the semi or final?

Next week is the final. Although I don't like how they call the rounds semi-finals and finals. They're not semi-finals!! They're ROUNDS!

    Very addictive programme.

Haven't seen much of it this year since they changed the timeslot.

Saw it last night and didn't think the contestants were as interesting or charismatic as last years.

Still a very good, slick show.

Thats what sky+ is for, Kat.
I've series linked it and watch it every night in bed. :)

Very addictive show alright. To be honest, I think I prefer the earlier rounds.
I think Chris will win, but Matt could be a dark horse (if he doesn't mess up).
No surprise who went home last night - too many mistakes.

So, final is tonight. Who's going to win it?

This time last week I would have gone for Christopher, as he had shown his talent and as he was the underdog it would have made good television.

This week hasn't been so good for him now though, so unless he really pulls something out of the bag he looks doubtful (but then again, they seem to judge on the last challenge rather than all challenges up to then, so who knows).

So if not Christopher, Mat or Andy - my bet would be on Andy who has been most consistent since the start.

    +1

I think Andy has to win but the thing is you never know who they will choose or who is going to have a good round tonight. I think Christopher is a bit inexperienced and Matt (who would make a good Bond villan with those eyebrows) in a bit hot and miss although he made an amazing dessert last night it with the choclate teardrops.
    So Andy FTW.

Hour long episode tonight too...I think Matt will win so long as he doesn't f*ck up his dessert...or shed a bucket-load of tears into his jus... Chris is not actually as confident as he comes across in the mini-interviews and Andy very often falls to pieces when one little thing goes wrong...

    Congratulations Mat!! Yayyyy!!!!

He definitely deserved to win, used really interesting ingrediants and put flavours together that noone else would have thought of. Well, not the other two anyway.

    Best man won.

Poor Andy looked gutted though :(

In balance i think Mat deserved it - he has come such a long way and his trio of rabbit looked stunning.

Great final. Mat was the only one who didn't make a single mistake, so he had to get it. The food looked amazing. He has come such a long long way.

    glad he won.

Great show, Love it and the BBC's the Restaurant

He had a great final. I actually think the other two lads are probably more talented overall but Matt the Merciless really came through in the final stretch. Saved his best performance until last.

Damn, I missed this. Can't believe Mat won. I thought he seemed a bit out of his depth last week to be honest. He must have really outdone himself in the final.

besty - the final is repeated around lunchtime on Sunday. Set the Sky+.

I'm enjoying this a lot. It doesn't have that cheesy "emotional narrative" that most reality television tries to impose on the contestants. But does Wallace ever disagree with Roux? He seems to have the occasional opinion about desserts, but for everything else he just paraphrases the chef.

Seriously, count the reviews and see how few of them he adds anything to. I think he's in awe of the "proper" chef. It makes me miss Torode.

Yeah I love this show too. I'm guessing this is the last week of first rounds?

As for Michel and Greg, you're spot on - Michel always goes first, and Greg always agrees. It'd be fun if Greg went first for a while and see what happens....

Best final yet. Tim is something special.
