My Brother bought a Technika 22" HD Ready LCD TV with built-in Freeview & DVD player LCD22-M3 up north before christmas and can't pick up the Irish stations with a Rabbit Ears Ariel. In Wexford so using Mount Leinster for reception.

Told him to try use aVCR to decode the signal.

    Any other options??

In Wexford, I would be surprised if you receive any signal using a rabbit ears from the Mount Leinster Txer.

is it analog or digital you are trying to pick up? If its analog, a uktv usually only picks up UHF so if your transmitter is VHF then your out of luck
Digital is no good probably as your tv will more than likely only do mpeg2, not mpeg4

The OP doesnt say if any other TV ever worked with rabbits ears at the same location. TV3 and TG4 woud be on UHF, so he would at least get them if it was a case of a UHF TV only

Other TVs work fine on rabibt ears. Will get him to try a video recorder when I am home the next time as it should handle both VHF and UHF.

RTE1 and 2 are definetly on high end VHF that part of the country.

There is no analogue tuner in that Technica. Even if there was it would be UHF.

The freeview tuner wont work in Ireland as we use a higher quality codec called MPEG4.

You may pick up Freeview (which is the British digital terrestrial service) from Wales, but you need to be right on the coast in Wexford and have a monster aerial pointing to Wales. If you can get the UK stations on analogue, then the digital should work. But not with an indoor aerial.

Tescos have to stop selling these type useless products, not suitable for Ireland at all.
