    hey gang
    hope yer all well
just about to buy a repair/work stand for my bike
i just need it mainly for degreasing the bike and doing a bit of repair work: changing cables, fixing punctures, and a few other bits.
i have no idea what money needs to be spent on one
or i was thinkin, might i even be able to build one myself with a few bits n pieces down in the diy store?
    thanks very much

This has come up a few times on the forum and I keep meaning to take a pic of the setup I have at home. I always found that standalone types take up space, so got a wall mounted one, and its on the outside wall (masonary) of my shed. Fully adjustable and all that as well.

I'll snap a pic this evening and post it here. I'll have to ask the aul fella where he got it too/how much it was, but as far as I can recall it was quite cheap..

the advantage of having a foldup one vs a wallmounter is you can do work inside in the kitchen for example if it's pi$$ing rain or dark outside, and you NEED to do something awkward like replace a broken gearcable. Also being able to walk around the bike rather than having to take it down and turn it around is handy too, especially if your hands are full of oil/grease/grime etc.
either way though, a bike stand of any sort is an essential bit of kit I reckon.
