Parking Fine

    Hey All,

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light....

I recently got a fixed parking charge from the Gardai by post saying i was parked in a loading bay on North Wall Quay (the stretch that runs all the way from the IFSC to the Point). There are several 'bays' along this stretch and they are always full - i honestly thought they are parking bays - and there are no signs indicating that they are loading bays. On the letter sent to me it gives a traffic sign number.

Now if i had known it was a loading bay i obviously wouldn't have parked there - but the fact that there is no signs along any of these bays is really annoying me.

I'm going to take some pictures of them later on anyway. Is it worth the hassle of arguing against this, or am i better off just paying?

    Thanks.

Go back and have a look. If it's not marked as a loading bay then argue the case, if it is then just pay up.

I work along there, were you on the liffey side?, if so there is no real signs or lines, were you near the ship MV Kill.

yeah along the liffey near the ship. you have to be there dead early to even get a spot, and as you say theres no signs.... there must be loads of people who got this fine...

no 'loading bay' signs, and the faded white line could just as easily be for parking.
there is what looks like an 'O' beside the wheel of the silver car in the third pic, but it must be pretty faded as i didn't notice it when i was there.
i rang them and they said i can't do anything about it - just wait until it goes to court.

    what 'ya reckon??

It looks to me as though all the cars there are parked illegally - shouldn't they be parallel to the kerb and inside the line rather than sticking out onto the road?

your probably right - but the fine is in relation to where the car is parked rather than how its parked (if ya know what i mean!)

I think you're going to need a pic with no cars in the way, but it does look to me as though you might have a case.

Looks more like an unused or soon to be used bus stop ..just a thought..

I see cars parked like this all day, and no signs anywhere so you cannot get a ticket. Phone the garda and ask for an explanation.

BTW you are outside the new Anglo Irish HQ
