Until recently you could order clothes online at karenmillen.com and pay sterling prices, UK VAT rates and just £5.95 postage.
Today when I tried to place an order I can only pay in Euros (at their inflatd exchange rate obviously) and the postage has been tripled to €20!!
An item that costs £99 is priced at €135 !!
What kind of fools do they take us for?:mad:

Do you really want an answer to that after the populace has been paying the Irish prices for decades?

Lots of people just use the shops here as changing rooms and then buy online at UK prices. Looks like Karen Millen don't want the business any more.

Once their internet turnover in Ireland is over a certain amount they must charge Irish Vat. This accounts for 6.5%. Also, the actual cost of sending items from Uk to Ireland is probably higher that the £20 they are charging.

Overall a 1.35 exchange is not the worst and is a fair reflection of additional costs in Ireland. Debenhams have a 1.55 exchange still!

Also markets are expecting UK / Euro rates to move from 1.15 to about 1.30 over the next 2 / 3 months.

Seems fairly reasonable TBH, many places screw you for a LOT more for postage. I expect many could have deals with local couriers, or it is just easier to process. I got an item and paid loads more for postage since the courier company classed Ireland as international, so I was paying the same to have it shipped from UK to here, as UK to China.

They would not change couriers for me, didn't bother me much as it was still the cheapest place to get it.

Apple would not let you buy an ipod from the UK or US, many companies practise this form of price control.
