A shot that looks pretty legit.....although nothing is legit until it's released.

5 USB's (which seems excessive and possilbly fake), FW 800, display port and mini dvi......no HDMI, pity. But then who knows where Apple is going with Apple TV....not in to the Mini anyway!

hmm it does look legit, the only thing that comes to mind for me is with the newest macbooks and macbook pro's they got rid of the firewire ports so they may follow suit with the mini.

I thought it was real, but according to a discussion on macrumors.com, it's a fake.

5 USB ports, lol. We'll be lucky if get one. Can't see there being firewire either. Definitely fake. If you can take one pic, you can take two. It's so easy to throw something like this together in PS.

Saw that on macrumors.com, but then the photo looks great so if it is fake, it's one hell of a mockup.

Someone there mentioned though that dropping firewire from the macbook could be to help MBP sales. And since FW is an apple invention, will they really drop it? Possibly though since the specs for USB 3.0 look pretty amazing, so maybe they are ahead of time.

    I da nah....

But one positive would be that there's a company who have launched a Displayport to HDMI converter, so the new mini could be used as a beefed up Apple TV....

Besides the odd choice of ports, you'd think Apple would be changing the form factor somewhat after all these years - but that photo looks identical to the current models, just a different set of ports. So I'm guessing "fake" too...

I saw that earlier and I'm guessing fake too. The fuzziness of the photo would make it easier to cover up a PS job. 5 USB ports? No way!

I would like to see Apple provide a low-end desktop box such as a new Mac Mini, the newest white Macbook has been hailed as good value for money by The Register, and they're generally as skeptical as hell about Apple products!

Still trying to get my hands on an old Mac Mini, would be perfect as a media centre I think.

It is - I have a Core Duo (not a 2 Duo) 1.66Ghz and it is almost perfect. The lack of 802.11n and a semi-decent GFX card really let it down though. Add those and the possibility of HDMI (though DisplayPort is fine too) and it would really improve things...

The guy really is trying too hard, isn't he? Confirmed fakeola by the looks of it:

So, one of our readers, Dave - who happens to be an expert at PCB design, has spent some time looking at the Mac Mini image posted today and he believes it is a fake. There have been many posts around the web on why. We've put it all together for your consideration.

Firstly, the dispersion of artifacts isn't consistant with an unedited image:

Also, within a given area that is unedited and consistent, a single macroblock type will be used.
If the macroblock type changes, it indicates editing of the image. Like so:

But the most damning evidence comes from Dave himself, who noticed that the Mini DisplayPort and Mini DVI aren't lined up with where the motherboard is. While Apple could have lifted the ports, that kind of setup weakens the joints. Would Apple risk this type of behavior on the back of a consumer level machine - on the monitor port, the one which will likely incur the biggest load?

Probably not. They stick with the most conservative, reliable hardware designs following strict rules, which is most of what Unibody is about. Fewer parts, more rigidity.

So, unless Apple has decided to use a mini-DVI and DisplayPort socket that break a steadfast rule of reliability in design, it's a fake.

...Plus it is on a IKEA faux wood vinyl laminate floor.

The image and the video hasn't being pulled by Apple which usually means its fake.
