Other uses for Pat Kenny's salary

Pat Kenny is paid 850,000 euro by RTE each year. I can't imagine the number of other uses for this money.

Personally, my suggestions would include: Get whoever the warm up guy is in the studio for the Late Late to just stay on for few hours and do Pats job. Chuck them an extra 750 euro and a taxi fare home. That's the Late Late presented for about 28 grand a year. Then I'd have an online tender where design students could submit proposals for a new set for the studio to replace the current version which could have been borrowed from the Stradbally Community Players' production of "Tron". There would be no need for financial reward to the winning designer as the prestige alone would be a major leg up for their CV. The remaining 820,000 or so could be split between 10 to 15 independent writers of no blood relation to any RTE employee to comission a fresh bunch of TV shows that are not just reworked versions of last years shows overseas.

I don't know, ****ing kill him or something. I'm sick of the man, I don't mind if people are disgustingly overpaid as long as they're good at what they do. I wouldn't begrudge Gheybo that salary.

Surely paying someone a fair salary if they do a good job is reasonable, not overpaying them. There is no way in the world you can justify RTÉ paying that cretin Kenny such a large salary considering the job he does.

As was rightly pointed out, if Kenny took a decrease in salary, or better yet some new blood who can actually engage with guest on the Late Late Show replaced him, the extra money could go towards financing some decent new shows on RTÉ.

ah look, the A-list guests (who will actually go on TV in Ireland) will go on the Late Late Show, no matter who is presenting it. People dont watch it for Pat, they watch it for the guests.

I would even rather have that eegit Tubridy on the Late Late rather than Kenny. You know Tubridy would be okay except for that stupid audience "interaction" bit in the middle of the show, really pisses me off.

better use could be to take out a contract on pat kenny with it and tubbs they'd both be floating round rte somewhere might even get a 2 for 1 deal (recession n all) and have enough left for biffo too!

Right, I say every week the Late Late is presented by a media studies graduate who thinks they're "Auditioning". This carries on for several years until we save up about €6m

Then we spend the money on sweets.

If we do happen to find a decent host among the crop of graduates, they are kept on at €500 a week
