Online check in for a toddler's buggy?

I'm thinking of booking Ryanair flights for 2 adults and one child (2 and a half years old) from Cork to Dublin - just a day trip for the young fella. I can get the three return flights for less than €40 if the online check-in option is used. Anyway, we'd need to bring a buggy for the young lad and I'm wondering if it's ok to show up at the security gate with this (after choosing the online check-in option), or whether i need to check it in at the airport check-in counter?
The website is a bit unclear. On one hand it says there is no charge for a collapsible buggy, but if you click that you are bringing infant/sports equipment in the booking process, you are not allowed to do an online check-in...
Anyone have experience of this type of situation?
    Thanks.

I have never used the on-line check in facility when bringing my childs buggy.I'm nearly sure that they need to tag it at the check in desk and will take it from you before you board the plane and it should then be there once you get off the plane

you'll need to check it in at the airport. it's free, but they still need to tag it, and then you leave it at the boarding gate
