can anyone reccomend one? obviously would need to be small to clip onto arm and suppose half or 1 gig

sorry if this should be in MP3 players section but people on running forum will have more knowledge on what to advise i reckon!:P

ipod nano and you could buy the Nike Sport kit. But you are going to need a wristband

So get an ipod shuffle, you can clip it on anywhere

I reckon this offering from Sony (due out in March) is exactly wot you'll need. The mp3 player is built into the earpiece itself - No wires at all! It's meant to cost around 80 euro i think when it goes on sale.sony-walkman-w-series-heart.png

Ipod Nano and if you wear Nike runners then the ship is better than the watch. Both need to be calibrated before use.

Has anyone used the sandisk? in 2 minds between this and shuffle

Sandisk seems better as it has a display and a radio

I've one. Deadly little machine. There's no messing about with itunes or any of that lark , just drag and drop the mp3's onto it. Absolutely tiny and feather light and about half the price of the ipod. Earphones with it are fairly crap though. Splash out on some nice in ear ones.

Some races don't allow the use of headphones so you should check this before you invest in one if it's just for the race. If it's the connemarathon half your running mp3 players are banned!

I think MP3s/radios are Ok for training but for races you would enjoy the race experience more and soak up the atmosphere if you go without earphones. You appreciate the crowd cheering you on and the banter between the competitors.

At the Dublin 1/2 marathon last year I had to pull a runner with headphones out of the way of a wheelchair competitor as he didn't hear the race organisers asking for the inside lane to be cleared.
