According to the Cork Independant, 19th February 2009, Michael McGrath TD and vice chairman of the Oireachtas Finance Committee has contacted the Garda Commissioner and requested additional police be assigned to the office of the ODCE to investigate certain matters at Anglo.

At present, 1 Detective Inspector, 2 Detective Sergeants and 5 Detective Gardai assigned on secondment from the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation to the ODCE under the provisions of the Company Law Enforcement Act 2001.

    My personal view:
    Relief!

Bear in mind these guys have taken a 10% paycut, hopefully they'll be working hard to resolve these certain matters at Anglo.

More criminal investigation, no tribunals. I hope all who broke the law get prison, no matter how up the social ladder ( their own arses) they are.

We wont hold our collective breaths. Its all show to suggest that the police are looking into it. The Anglo was saved to help the the golden circle get through a rough patch and make sure that the goings on are kept secret IMO. Biffo knows these people as he was Finance Minister.

The big write-off of debt is the worst part. You think anglo would do that for you if you owed 30 thousand? But 30 million? Pft

I also think that these people not being named is because they have friends in high places who don't want the general public seeing that these people are still sitting pretty on absolute fortunes and would probably be able to pay a large chunk back at the very least.

I agree with galwayrush. If there ends up being yet another tribunal with these lads all coming in and lying through their teeth to save their own asses, I'll literally camp outside it myself with crate after crate of eggs. We need this corruption cleaned up once and for all. It obviously has always been going on, and we wouldn't have a clue about it at all if we weren't in a recession. People need to be accountable..

We couldn't afford another tribunal. It can only go through a criminal investigation... just like any of us would have to go through if it was suspected that we'd defrauded our employers.

I sincerely hope that they find those who have committed fraud, guilty and they are jailed.

This would be the same Michael McGrath involved in some 'interesting' planning decisions in Cork.....

I think that in future, as well as those escorting the cash to and from the banks, there should Guards and soldiers actually living inside the banks. That would help prevent a repetition of recent happenings.

The Fraud Squad might not have the expertise to deal with this.

Indeed - maybe Mick Wall threw another few bob Bertie's way so he could buy some shares!
