Civic (01-06 Gen) Anti Theft System Problem

    Hello All,

    Was driving along today and suddenly the radio stopped working. Continued to my destination and then discovered the Central Locking and interior courtesy lights no longer work either.

    So turned back on the Ignition and the Green Key symbol that normally illuminates when Ignition on & when I remove the Ignition key no longer works. The Red LED on the Radio and Speedometer that signify anti Theft System is armed no longer light up either.

    So, can anyone help me solve this sudden problem which all appears to centre around the Anti Theft System.

    Want to try and avoid the main dealer (High Prices!!!!!). I'm in Co. Galway if anyone could recommend a good Honda Diagnostics Engineer. I have checked the fuses under the bonnet and under the steering wheel and all appear fine.

    Cars is driving fine other than the above; lights, wipers, heater etc all working fine.

    Folks,

    Just to update anyone who may be interested or who are unfortunate to suffer what I suffered above.

    Brought the car to the main Dealer this mornig having booked it in yesterday. They spent an hour and a half trying to find the fault but to no avail. As they only working half day and that the whole centre console needs removing but they have no time. So €70 less off I trundle of home.

    So curiosity got the better of me and I removed the stereo, replaced the fuse and yes, Anti Theft System comes alive.

    Reconnect the stereo and it works too........... take the car for a drive on a bumpy road and then Stereo and Anti Theft System dies. Get home remove the stereo, give it a shake and hear then see a 10 cent coin in the housing. How it got their is beyond me but with it removed and the fuse replaced, stereo and Anti Theft is working again.

    Bit disappointed the whole Anti Theft System died due to what I consider a Stereo issue........ I would of thought the Stereo fuse would of blown first.

    Anyhow, happy days no more drivin with the Phone Radio on loadspeaker!!!!

    Glad to hear you got it sorted, I'd track down the last toddler that was in your car to find the source of that 10c.

    At least you can now say the trip to the main dealer only cost you €69.90...
