Nexus hub question

    Hi,

I have a Nexus hub on my trike and I noticed today that there is a small 'gap' (5mm) revealing grease on the non drive side, running all around the hub, in the area between the spoke flange and the rear triangle.

Is it supposed to be there? I had cause to look at the hub today as I needed to retighten the drive side as it had pulled forwards.

    So is this normal?

    Thanks,

    DFD

Nexus brake hub, nexus gear hub, or nexus does-both hub?

My hub tends not to release grease on either side, tbh

7 speed gear hub with coaster brake.

Ah, OK, I have an old brakeless version, so I can't really compare for sure.
Suffice to say that the gearing pin is a frequent source of problems, and if anything goes wrong my first port of call is pull it out, clean it, grease it, put back everything with really tight screws, and recalibrate. The only time that hasn't worked, a replacement gear-clapper did the trick.

Your problem sounds more serious though :/
