    Hi there,
Can someone share some experience with this crowd... Achievers.ie?.
I'm asking because I applied for a position with Aldi and as per the ad it states that it does not need any experience.
I have been working as a manager for the last 15 years in the Hospitality and Retail industry and I feel that after 15 years I have a level of experience.
Today I received a reply from the crowd mentioned above that my application was not succesful.

Do you think that I shall ask them on which criteria my application was not succesful?

    Hi,

I too also applied to Aldi's with years of experience and received their PFO letter. I too was tempted to write back and ask why my application was unsuccessful, but after reading the other threads, I probably won't bother, but I'd still like to know why I was unsuccessful??

    Hi guys,

I'd imagine it was BECAUSE you had too much experience. The thing about Aldi & Lidl is that they like people to come in fresh so that they have no expectations or experiences that will contrast to the Aldi/Lidl way of doing things. Aldi work their managers to the bone, 70-80 hours a week, if you have vast experience in the industry and know your stuff, then more than likely you won't like this kind of set-up, and they are aware of this. I'd imagine they have learned from experience that the ones that work best for them are the ones who know no better or are trying to gain experience themselves... just my 2 cent

    Hi Jobucks,

Good point. I wasn't thinking it was too much experience, but maybe too old, since I'm over 40 and my CV states my graduation date, maybe I should change that!

I really wouldnt imagine it has anything to do with age. That would be a big issue if it was, and I'm not sure a company as prominent as that would risk discrimination court cases. I really do think that you just didn't suit the "Aldi" model, too much experience and not someone they can mould into their own brand.
