    I contacted Euro Connect about getting a terminal in my store, they quoted me the following;

€199 for one off payment for registration & terminal etc
    €25 p.m for rent
    €30 p.m for something else

So that's €55 p.m, plus I pay a percentage on each transaction, and pay €0.25 per Laser transaction.

    Anyone else think that's expensive?

    Can anyone recommend another company?

    Thanks

Elavon is Euro Connect, isn't it ?

I got the paper work this morning (from Elavon) see attachment for the charges I'm quoted. I told the rep on the phone I'd probably do 2/3 Laser/Visa etc transactions a day, so maybe that's a low count to them, and that's why it's more expensive for me?

Yep, they changed name a while back.

You only have a few choices,
    • Elavon
    • AIB
    • Ulster Bank

    Is the AIB system, Alphyra?

Is it possible to receive visa/laser payments without one of these machines, e.g. if somebody gave you their details over the phone for a delivery :)

I was looking into these guys a while ago www.realex.ie.

Didn't manage to go any further than looking, so can't say if they're any good.

We use WorldPay http://www.worldpay.com/business/offers/index.php?c=IE and I find it works well for us.

Just rang them, they don't do instore payments. I'm looking for instore payment solutions, hence the title "Who for receiving Visa/Laser etc payments instore?".

Alphyra (Payzone) launched their terminals in January, still very much finding their feet and their customer service is beyond shocking. They process via AIB only.

We've got an Alphyra for an AIB account. I've only ever had one problem and I found their customer service to be superb!

fair enough, I use them for phone credit, billpays, toll bridge etc and jesus christ they would try the patience of a saint. Mayeb there CC system is efficient (as I'd imagine they don't really handle it) but their other services are so bad its untrue. Any retailers I've spoken to about this would not exactly be singing their praises.

For instance, they promised me sincerely everything would be installed and working within 3 days, 7 weeks, about 50 phone calls, several faxes later it arrived and is still not working correctly after 4 months.

The thing about Realex is that they're a payment gateway provider. They only look after the technical side of things for website / virtual terminal processing. If you use Realex you still have to have a Merchant Account with Elavon, AIB or Ulster.

Hey there - there are a number of options for instore credit, some of which have already been touched upon those available today are
    • Elavon (formerly euroconex, formerly Bank of Ireland Merchant Services)
    • AIB
    • Ulster Bank
The likes of Alphyra, Fexco and Fintrax are also worth a call. They also offer credit card processing from a number of the banks but they often want you to bundle in Dynamic Currency Conversion, mobile topup or giftcard functionality (which may or may not suit you). They will let you use whatever bank you want to acquire through.

If you;re only doing 2-3 transactions per day, why not use an online acquirer (I see worldpay mentioned already)?

    Hope that is some help
