I think its that he has a 6 lb penalty but has not been re handicapped yet, but i'm not to sure.

Its a penalty given to horses who run before the handicapper has a chance to properly give them a new rating/before new ratings come out.

Puts people off backing horses sometimes but I'm of the opinion the opposite is true sometimes, soem horses may be ahead of the handicap - i.e. 6lbs might still leave them very well treated based on their last run.

I'm generally of the opinion that the trainer wouldnt run the horse unless he believed the 6lbs extra was less than what the handicapper would give

Hope no-one minds the link, but I wrote an article recently about horses that 'beat the handicapper' that some may find interesting:

    http://betting.betfair.ie/horse-racing/horse-racing-systems/horse-racing-betting-strategy-beating-the-handicapper-020109.html

There's some good money to be made following certain horses in this way - despite the fact that it's one of the oldest 'systems' going.

Thanks buddy - went well today thankfully. I tipped two horses in the RP Chase and one won at 10/1.

We'll just ignore the football bets today if that's ok! :)

Julian Muscat tipped the winner also I think.

The Indo really has upped its game on a Saturday with the racing.

I think Richard Forristal is not very good, but thats me.

I think Richard Forristal is crap personally, but thats me.

They decided to give the racing dept a shake up in the new year. I like the new format - it's much more readable and focuses a bit more on the betting side of things.
