    Not impossible, just stupid.

striking is for c*nts. in the current times, we are all lucky to have jobs. people have been getting away with murder for years and first sign of no more free coffee, no double velvet bog roll, or no more luxury expenses and their in a huff. unions are troublesome and nothing but a shower of trouble makers only interested in their 2/3 euro that they get from everybodies pay check.

id sack anybody that went on strike if i was an employer. employers dont own us anything. its not wonder that big companies are upping sticks and leaving this country and going off to other countries where people are grateful to have jobs.

    unions are troublesome and nothing

how do you think you got a 40 hours working week, 20 days holidays, no more saturday morning work as a part of the regular working week, no child working, minimum wage etc?

tell that to the people who dont have a job cos companies now find it too expensive to employ people here. unions should be there to ensure that people are not exploited, but in reality, they got too big for themselves. ive dealt with unions in previous jobs and seen the damage they can do. have no time for them what so ever.

some companies do but others are just using it as an excuse to remove jobs.
A case in point is Ericsson in Dublin, one of the best Ericsson R&D Centres now going to China. Mast cost reductions so much in fact that you would be paying qualified engineers in Ireland below min wage if they jobs were to stay here.

Bigger issues than Unions are the costs of doing business in Ireland, electricity, phones, insurance etc. Most private sector jobs are non unionised and this is were the job losses are

people are the biggest expense companies have. alot of the companys had a shed load of grants that meant their expenses were low. they can get those elsewhere now too.

if i was starting up a company, i would not have it in ireland due to the greed and lazyness that exists here with the employees.

I was in first year during the teacher's strike. At the end of one break we all sat down and chanted "we're on strike" (for what, I don't know - solidarity with the teachers? opposition?). Then the principal came out and said "right, anyone still on strike in five minutes gets detention". Then everyone went inside.

Yeah, let's just bin the unions, workers rights etc and see what we get from our employers out of the goodness of their hearts

Yeah I plan to strike within the next few weeks

There has been pay reductions and lay offs in our company so we are all gonna go march on Kildare St.

...Oh wait now I work in the public private sector :(

Guess I should be thankful I'm not one of those laid off

Went on strike from secondary school at one stage when we were in 5th year, have no idea what it was for though. Mighty craic.

Yea I was in a job for about 2 weeks, we had to walk out and let the managers do all the work, while we had tea and biscuits in a meeting in siptu. They were giving out about the manager which was my best mates dad... was kinda funny as they didn't know that. :P

I think we went on strike in school, can't remember anything about it though... O.o and the doctor says my memory is fine. What a load of balls...

If I had to work an extra 5 hours a week and lose 8 days holidays I'd be pretty pissed off. The above better not happen me :)

Almost went on strike last summer when the bank cut our share issue (fat lot of good that did us ;):P) but the IBOA and the bank reached an accord about a week beforehand so it was called off. :)

Nope never went on strike. But I remember when I was a senior, we had the perk of getting a half day on a tuesday. The 1st and 2nd years staged a protest in anger at this perk. How we laughed our asses off sitting on the wall opposite the school while teachers came running out after the "protesters". They didn't last long I tell you.:pac:
