How many friends do you have on Facebook/Bebo/Myspace?

    I guess it comes down to the kind of person you are. I have often met people and spoken to them briefly, and then the next time I check my email I have the old "John Q Citizen" has added you as a friend on Facebook thing. When I check their profile to remember who exactly they are, I see that they have 1,972,425 friends. I can guess at how well he knows them. Why do people add friends who they don't know? How many friends do you have, and what proportion of these people would you actually consider friends in any real sense.

    350, i only add people i talk to in real life, i dont like those people who add everybody and anybody just to get the numbers up, its kinda sad:D

    i have about just over 100, about 50 are people i am friends with, 20 or so would be people i have met around (friends of friends) 10ish are people that i dont know but my friends do, and 4 or 5 are internet buddies that i talk to regularly. rest are spammers that i got tired of refusing.

    this is bebo btw, i have 4 random people on my myspace friend list

    I originally joined face book about year and a half ago but hardly bothered looking in ,so decided about 3 months ago to rejoin and have roughly 33 friends ( 7 I know in real life ,another 10 are family,rest are from friends recomendations ) .Have had another 100 ' add these to your list ' requests to. Having thousends of friends ( most of whom you will never chat to ) is just the same as having a big post count ( for the sake of having it ) and defeats the purpose imo , but whatever floats yer boat.

    I like FB mainly for the fact I might come across some old friends.

    well thats the problem with facebook. it forces you to be someone's friend before you can look at their profile or anything. so before in the good old days I could just look at anyones profile and decide if they were worth talking to or not (in most cases they're not). and when the new 'privacy' thing started getting popular you had to either leave or add lots of people, hoping to pick out the good ones.

    of course there is no such thing as privacy on these sites. first all your info is forwarded onto advertisers and these sites thrive on gossip. change your relationship status and a load of people will flock to your page for clues as to what happened. ppl r dum.
