I can find BBC HD on Sky but I cannot record it. It doesn't have a channel no.

Is there any way around this?

Really frustrating, was looking forward to recording Nature's Great Events tonight but couldn't.

BBC HD is not on the Irish EPG, even if you're paying the HD subscription.

    Options:
I have just got a Humax Freesat PVR to get around this.
Get a HD subscription for Northern Ireland - this gives you BBC HD, C4 HD and the "Irish" channels.

It is funny. Digital television packages all over the world carry BBC HD yet Sky wont carry it for their Irish customers.

    Thanks. It's a real pain.

I'm planning on buying a new TV or TVs so I might go for a Freesat box and a TV with a DTT tuner in it too while I'm at it. Non-subscription "free" TV would be fine anyway for my needs except for the fact I watch a lot of sports, so I need to subscribe to Sky Sports and Setanta.

I must look into one of those motorised dishes to get European content for free...see if I can get rid of Sky eventually. Sky not carrying BBC HD properly has really pissed me off.

It's not just BBC HD. You cant record BBC3, BBC4 (fine music programmes!) or ITV on SKY+ in the good ol' RoI:eek:
Do what I did - get a "Freesat" Humax HD PVR - no subscription charges, record all the usual channels (including BBC and ITV HD), and even copy the recordings digitally via the USB slot to an external disk! Everything except BBC HD is copyable. BBC have a copyright marker on their transmissions at the moment which prevents the Humax box transferring BBC HD content in Freesat mode.
