I have been playing a lot of COD4 online lately, but I am finding that it is taking ages to move through the ranks. I have played a lot for about a year and am only on Rank 40. I almost always play Free-for-all and sometimes cage matches, usually placing in the top three in the former. Is it my reluctance to play the team games that is hurting me? I have done most of the challenges for a lot of the guns etc. Any tips appreciated.

you will never rank up playing free for all
1 kill = 5 points
TDM = 10 points
Search and Destroy 50 points a kill

FFA is OK for getting a few kills to complete weapon challenges, but that's it, there is no skill involved hence the poor points handed out
if i were you I'd get into TDM and S & D, s & d is tough and daunting at first, when you die, look at someone on your team with a lot of kills, see how they play, its a very tactical game, but when you get into it, its brilliant and you can easily get 500 points a game, specially double xp weekends, one happening the end of the month xbox and ps3

join a clan also, you can learn alot, see siggie if interested, we're very n00b friendly, mostly lads from boards.ie, were ps3 by the way

Like already said FFA is terrible for ranking up, and join a clan. You'll always have someone to play with if you join a big one like myself.

play headquarters, loads a' bleedin points for that. I just prestiged for the second time yesterday and i'm already like level 24.

yup headquarters is what you need to play. i'm about to hit my second prestige and I've only been playin about a month.

Sabo is wayy to short most of the times i've played it. HQ and SnD is the wat to go.
