We, as in me and my shooting buddy, got 24 cocks, a handful of woodcock, good few teal, 6 mallard and about a dozen snipe.
We never got a fox this year and we don't bother with rabbits. Didn't see any partridge as our clubs didn't rear any this year.

I'm not a numbers in the bag kinda guy...............being out in the countryside and watching the dog work is as important to me as game in the bag

    No truer words said!

Had a thread like this one few weeks back. Last day results.

I don't shoot more than 2 cocks a day & the 2nd shot has to be harder than the 1st before I will. Training young dog this year so the more birds left around for him to find the better.
Not a bad season none the less!

Dog working well is a joy to watch, bought 100 catridges used 40, cheapest season yet.

Will keep trying to improve the dog might even buy another.

The weather was first class this past season, never got a soaking.

Was out for a good ramble with the dogs last weekend birds still seem scarce.

If in doubt that the dog is finished old off on another for a season unless you have a lot of time.

I had mine out for a run the other day for an hour, hadn't been out for a run for 2 weeks but had loads of work done every night after work but he was wild once out in the fields! Alot of work few times a week in the summer!
They go backwards alot quicker than they get better!
Still a good few birds around my way. Could do with knocking off a few of the cocks before the hens start laying!

which catridges do find the best out there.:)

i know what u mean when u say u want to c the dog workin well.
i had a 9 month old springer and a year old springer new this season and vey happy with them.i bring them for a hour run most evening just to keep the interested.

a big help i found wit the younger dog was retrevin ducks.its was the best bit of trainin i did for the dog.he now has yet not to pick up a shot bird since.they also get a nice sort mouth.
