    Hello there folks!
This is your friendly Vaticon Wargames Director!

Here's the lowdown on the tournaments being run at Vaticon this year:

We'll be running a 1700 point Warhammer 40,000 tournament over the 2 days of the convention starting on the Saturday and finishing in the evening on the Sunday. There will be 5 games over the 2 days of varying missions and deployment types
Alongside this we will be running a Warhammer Fantasy Battle 2000 point tournament on the Sunday. There will be 3 games on the day.

If that doesn't pick your fancy there will be places available for Battlefleet Gothic, Blood Bowl and other specialist games. If there is interest I will run a tournament in the specialist games

Vaticon is the UCD Gamers convention; it's running on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of April on the UCD campus. Wargames will start at 10 o'clock on the 4th and will go on for as long as there are missions to be played! Entry to the con is 10 euro for a weekend pass, the tournaments cost nothing extra.

If you are interested in coming, sound off below and I will send you the rules pack.
The website for the convention is http://sites.google.com/site/vaticon/
There is a handy section about getting to the convention if you've never been to UCD before.

Also please note that I am not in charge of any of the non Games Workshop model tournaments, please contact the con Director for the appropriate person

That's all folks, any questions fire away
Hope to see you all there!

EDIT: There are now only 5 games due to time constraints. Sorry about that guys.

Hi Baneblade, that sounds awesome!! You should get at least 5 for 40k from the Warheads. One question though, what about people going home sunday evening, will they be able to fit in three games on a (hangover) sunday?

    All the best,
    Joe

Are you the gentleman who replied to my thread on models inc forums? I'm having a look at the timetable at the moment. IT's going to be 2-2.5 hours a game, with 20 mins in between each, 10 for moving models around and 10 for talking your army over/deploying. I havne't got the details nailed down yet but we'll be starting at 10, so be there for 9 for army list checks etc. We'll probably be finishing about 6. Now.. as things are still a bit shakey on the timetable front i'm thinking that 6 games might be a bit much time wise, so I'm going to put it in concrete now over the weekend so i'll let you know once it's done.

Hope this helps.. feeback would be most useful

Now I've recovered from the weekend I can actually give an after action report!

Wargames at Vaticon was in the end a pleasure to run, I can't thank the people who came enough, ye guys made it damn worth it.

Big thanks to Kristjan, he let me sleep at his house, cooked dinner, provided me with wine older than I am and introduced me to 'I'm on a boat' .Thanks for keeping my semi-sane.

We broke a few records at the con, 14 gamers in total, 10 battled it out over 2 days for the 40k tournament and 4 fantastic gentlemen turned up to the Fantasy tournament on the Sunday, had a blast and a few grudges were formed I think.
Compared to last year, we had a horde!!

I'd like to extend my gratitude to Maynooth Gamers, these guys bailed me out at the last minute with loads of terrain, without them, the tournaments wouldn't of happened. Also to Martin at Models Inc who provided some green felt and 2 boxes of terrain even though he wasn't present at the convention

Two absolute gentlemen returned the terrain to their respective homes for me, Matt O'Brian and Frank O'Donnell ye guys saved me a lot of carrying and stress, thanks guys!

I think the best moments of the convention for me were the banter between the gamers, and the light-hearted atmosphere was fantastic.

I have taken comments and criticisms of the Rulespack into account and I'll be talking to the Warpcon wargames director about the proposed changes so we can better both conventions

Well, this has started to sound like an Oscar acceptance speech so I'm going to leave it at that.

One last thing, Vaticon 2010 will be just as big if not better; I hope to see you all there again!
