Transfer songs from iPod to new laptop?

    Ive got an iPod with around 1300 songs on it. Now Ive got a new Sony Vaio laptop and I want to transfer the songs from the iPod to the laptop. How can this be done? Ive heard of 'enabling disc use' or something similar. Can anyone just give me a step by step guide on how I can do this?
