Guaranteed better price

    Hi,

I did a bet in ladbrokes the other day @5/4 and he won however the horse ended up 6/4,
so i went up to collect expecting the better price when they said that they dont guarantee the better price (unless the bets placed 15mins before the off),

i found this strange as i would have thought that a huge bookmakers like ladbrokes would offer this to their customers,
in fact ive gotten paid the better price from them before in similar situations in the past,

anyways i rang their customer service no. and got speaking to someone who really didnt know what he was saying i.e. he was reading from a sheet...

so i wanted to ask if anyone knows if this is true:
do ladbrokes not offer a guaranteed better price?

    thanks a lot,

    sisco.

Its guaranteed board prices you're looking for there I think. Not sure if they do those. Ladbrokes are the meanest shower of ****es going anyway, dunno why you'd go near them.

Ladbrokes haven't been guaranteeing prices in a long time. Boyles guarantee both early and board prices (singles only) on all races at U.K., Ireland and Nad Al Sheeba in the shops. They also guarantee all prices on multiples when you bet on boylesports.com.
Powers also guarantee all prices at U.K. and Ireland in shops.

    I never bet in Ladbrokes.

I cannot fathom how they are so big, and therefore popular.

Bet with whoever gives you the best price, simple as that.

Ladbrokes are less likely to knock you back than others and their pricing of a race would be a lot more respected than any of the others.

    Hey Guys,

    thanks for all the replys,
i guess ill have to forfeit my extra couple of quid (had 200 on so wud have been an extra 50 quid),

i would have thought nearly all bookies guarantee board prices these days - even the individual bookmakers around my area are doing it,
thats why i was so surprised that they werent giving it to me- i guess ladbrokes see this as an easy way to skim off their customers,

ill take my bets elsewhere next time,
    thanks again for the info,

Most places don't offer it mate.

Without wanting to sound harsh its no use crying about it now. But you've learned something!
Powers do it, 365, will hills, stans, more too but can't think of em off hand.

seems very strange that you didnt get 6-4.I bet regualry in ladbrokes, cause its close to home.they pay better rice on single bets.
biggest problem i have with them and it happens 80% of the time is that i have to tell them i had the better price.
pain int he backside to be honest, always waiting ages to get paid out cause the staff can't get my winning in order.
don't get me wrong im patient but i hate having to calcualte my winning before i go up as i know they will short change me.
    anyone else get this?

Yeh this has happened to me often. Ladbrokes are out to screw you as much as possible! Ive often went up to collect and they first give me the price I wrote on my docket. I'd then have to say can I not get the better price? They'd say you can and then give be the extra money! They're unbelievable! Absolute gangsters! Always tell them you want the better price! I know that sounds stupid as they should give it to you anyway but they wont! Ladbrokes do give the better sp price these days mainly cause the competion do. However, I dont think they give the better price if you took your price in the morning, ie. longer than 20mins before the race!

i think at one stage before the exchanges came along other bookies used to wait for ladcrokes to put the prices up,as far as internet betting is concerned punters have become wise to them

The system they use is terrible. When they flash the docket the computer just calculates the original price (never updating itself with the better price) Then you have to wait ages till the staff check the better price and then add it up. ALWAYS tell them the horse won at better odds before they scan it because the computer won't let them know and the majority of the staff haven't a clue about racing. The old manual system where bookmakers had people behind the counter thinking for themselves was much better for the punter. Now you've got people working there who rely totally on the system and they dare not question the computer! It is frustrating sometimes.

Ladbrokes could quite easily update their software but its been said already they're a bunch of gangsters.
