selling car & got this email from interested party
Hi Guys , I have a car for sale on a few different websites, mostly free ads,not carzone or anything like that, and I got an email the other day asking me if the car was still available. To which I replied yes it was and would they like to arrange a viewing. This is the email I got back:

    Hello J,

Good to read back from you. after some days now and i'm happy to read
from you as well, i will have love to come and see the Punto but i
have been busy with work here and there.........Am much interested in
buying this Punto, and i want to know how much is the last price and i
would have come to look at it but am much pretty busy with work
here..Also i would pay you via certified check..Just let me know if
this is ok by you..I would also be handling the shipping myself cause
i have a local mover that always have my goods picked up and have it
delivered in front of my house here in Dublin, Ireland..So let me know
if all this suit you..and get back to me with your contact details in
which payment will be send to you..Such as your full name and full
contact address and your personal phone number........Will be so glad
to read back from you soon..
    God bless you..

    Best Regards.

    Mr McGate John.

Now apart from the email sounding a bit like it was written from a Nigerian prince (who also often sends me emails) my other concern is that the address this email went to was not the same address I sent my reply from.... how did he get this email address and is he for real???

I've posted this in motors aswell mods so if you need to move it no probs.

    Scam!

There's a similar one that people get who are trying to let their property.

It starts like this, seems ok, then the next thing they'll be asking you to front a bit of money. You'd probably get wise but you will have wasted ages to-ing and fro-ing.

Somefing like this for the rental version but you get the gist.

Scam....I got a mail yesterday from the FBI no less...but they are now based in Brazil?? Telling me to contact them etc re:some spam mails i've received lately and that i could be entitled to compensation for the inconvenience i suffered! All i had to do was give em a load of personal details to process the job! Am affronted at the fact that they think i may be that stooopid:P

But i'd love to know how many people are actually gullible enough to go through with them....?

Have a bit of fun with him.
Tell him you need a security photo from him before you can continue the transaction.

something like oh say stand on one leg. with a bucket on your head. with no shirt. holding two sticks of fire.

The author of that email seems so overjoyed at you replying, and the prospect that you may send him another reply, that I think he may want to jump your bones. Which you may see as a scam or not. I dunno if you're that way inclined.

Its a 100% complete scam, but it looks like he/she is trying to come across as a local to try conceal that the fact this is just another scam email.... in a very retarded way that you'd need to have a full lobotomy to even have a minute chance of beleaving...

I've emailed him back and told him I would be delighted to sell my car to him. And that seeing as he is from Dublin and I'm in Cork I'll meet him somewhere in between, also gave him my full fake name and address

Aha, got your thread closed in motors and here you are.

BTW you also won 100 billion dollars from some dead black guy in a country that barely has two brown pennies to rub together. Give me your bank account details and I will send you all the money even though I could just give it all to my neighbour and get him to write me a cheque for half.

A lot of scammers are aware of the security photo gag now, down to scambaiting etc.

But hopefully this guy is unaware of it.

The trick to getting the photo is to dangle the carrot in front of him after you ask for it. Act a little simple so that he thinks he's set for the deal.

Tell him you are unsure about the deal as you have not yet seen him and that you will require a photo of him holding a sign with a passphrase that says "did horton hear a who? who knows but this deal is 100% risk free"

    he will send the photo

I doubt it. Seriously, I used to scambait these guys a lot a few years ago and they always fell for it. Recently they just seem to ignore you once you start asking for stuff like that, worth a try though.

I do it too but dont get too far with them either.
But we had no collateral, no carrot. The scammer knows the car sale is real and that jobucks is not a baiter.
It cracks me up, did you see the trophie of 419eater of the guy with 'help me obiwan kanobe your the only one who can save me' sign
    lol :pac:

lol...yeah, some of them are great. The best were the ones he actually convinced to get tattoos done and the guy who flew all the way to Scotland to meet, only for the baiter to be secretly filming him and phone him saying it was all a scambait! Hilarious!

When we did it, we got some photos and some hilarious voicemails left.

Biko, respond saying that you also like to spread the word of god and that you would like to donate money to his cause...but ONLY if he proves he is a man of god.

request a photo of something along the lines of say taking his shirt off, sitting inside a ring of fire holding two crosses and have his friend poor milk over his head - like HIM
