Anyone using Meteor Broadband? Need Help!

    Hey,

I signed up for the meteor broadband and was sent the Huawei E180 USB key.

The day I got it, i plugged it in and the autostart went through the installation process happy days and i used it that day no probs.

Next time i tried to use it I couldnt get a connection and left, it tried the next day and the next but no joy.

Contacted meteor and they got me to uninstall and add some proxy to the connection options.

Said i try and ring back later. Didnt work.

I uninstalled everything but now when i put the Huawei in to the USB it just detects it as a USB 2.o Device and the auto install wont play anymore.

If you install through the auto installation through windows it crashs the system and you get the wonderful blue fatal error screen!

So basically the autorun doesnt happen anymore and i am unable to reinstall.

Anyone have any experience or advice? IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED!!

    Regards

    Hi OP,

Try the following: Google search for 'Windows install cleanup tool', It's an official Microsoft Product - I find if i can't uninstall an application properly through the start menu -> Control panel method, this application usually does the trick. Remove 'Mobile Partner' software completely from your machine with this...

Then try a restart, and re-inserting the E180. You should be taken through the 'Mobile Partner ' reinstall process again.

As for the proxy settings - all you need to know is that in the tools > options > Profile management section, the APN setting should be set to broadband.mymeteor.ie & the access number should be set to *99#

    Cheers

I haven't used that myself but for some reason my USB memory sticks will only work in 2 of the 4 USB ports on my laptop. This only happens me in Vista because it is such a crap OS. Try all the USB ports. I hope it helps!!:)

2 of your usbs are 2.0 high speed ones. The others one's aren't.

    That's why.

It's highly unlikely that a laptop shipped with Vista preinstalled would have USB 1.1 ports.
