Braces at Age 35

Hi all, first post so please bear with me.

I am planning to get Invisalign braces (assuming my teeth are suitable). I have been to Seapoint Clinic where I was advised that they would work for my teeth. However, I have done a lot of research (particularly on the US forums) and I have now decided that it would be safer to go with a qualified orthodontist. The guys at Seapoint Clinic are just cosmetic dentists.

Does anyone have any experience of getting Invisalign treatment in the Blackrock/Monkstown/Dun Laoghaire area?

    Thanks:D

I have invisalign braces, I had them done by an orthodontist. I'd imagine a cosmetic dentist would be qualified to do it. One this which is pretty horrible about the invisalign braces is that your teeth have to be thinned down at the sides if your mouth is overcrowded to make room for your teeth to move into place. This involves something like a very fasst spinning needle used to wear down the enamel, it can be quite uncomfortable but it's not too bad. I'd definitely recommend them as you can take them out for meals or kissing. (kissing with aligners just doesn't feel right :()

    Hi,

I've been to the Seapoint clinic and got the 6 month braces, couldn't recomend them enough... exactly 6 months later, perfect straight teeth and the gave me a take home whitener for the too for free and a year later they're still lovely and white....

Wow. I didnt know these existed.
I like the idea of the invisalign treatment. 3500-6000 seems steep though.

Did you do any shopping around? Please share.

    Hi Piste

Did it take you long to get used to them? I have a test tray which I have been wearing a little while deciding whether to go for Invisalign. It feels so weird in the mouth - even though it doesn't affect my speech as much as I expected. I also feel really self-conscious when it is in (but I think I will get over that because it really is worth it).

Where did you get your treatment? How much are you paying? I will be paying E6000 but it is with a good orthodontist. What attracts me to it is that I can take it out for very important meetings at work.
