OK folks I am in a pickle !!
My missus is buying me a new set of clubs for my Bday in couple of weeks...

I hit Mizuno Mx 23's at minute and was hoping to stick with Mizuno as I just love the feel I get from them. I have tried both of these new clubs listed above and hit them both well but just wanted feedback.

Does anyone have these clubs or anyone have opinions on this. Another pickle is maybe the Titleist AP2'S as an other option.

I also wanna get custom fitted for my new set, I know Carton House do it but anyone recommend somewhere else, prices etc !!

    Thanks in advance

No idea about pricing, but I've heard a couple of reccomendations about Fore Golf http://www.foregolf.ie/intro.html . I think they are based in Naas, and they have a custom fitting service. They do all the major brands, incl Mizuno and Nike.

    Howaya Buachaill,

I have MP57's I got just after Christmas, big change from my Titleist 775 CB's, but in the past two weeks I found myself hitting the ball really well and am enjoying them more and more every time I go out.

They took a bit of adjustment because I changed to stiff shafts aswell, but so far so good, highly recommended.

BTW mine were €499 in McGuirks.

If you wanna hit them no hassle, you can come back out to Forrest Little or maybe a day in Coolattin over the next couple of weeks?

Here's a link to a thread I started when I got the MP57's for a bit more info:

Howya JCDUB hope your keeping well !!

    Thanks for post.

I think the change over for me should be hopefully quite painless as I am already hitting Mizuno's. My only question I suppose is which ones to go for. Can I ask why u changed from Titleist to Mizuno ?? I was looking at the Ap2 also.

I would love to take you up on a round either in my place or yours again really enjoyed it the last time so sooner the better in my opinion might even drag 2 more out with us. Funny we spoke about metro etc on our last round and 2 days later I got the call up so happy days !!

I am also very nervous about changing my clubs then struggling with them as I am now involved in the team, but that said I have hit them and they both feel lovely

    Thanks again for post

Ah nice one on the call-up for the Metro, just go out and do the do in the practice and you should make the team no problem.

The matchplay on here will at least get you playing match golf early in the year so that should help a bit.

I changed from Titleists because I lost a bit of distance when I changed to them.
I thought it was the shafts so I had my swing analysed and I was right, should have had stiff and I had reg.
Also only had the Titleists about 3 years and thought they aged badly.
MP 57's are fabulous looking clubs aswell so this was a major plus for me.
Mizuno are very highly regarded so that was that really, my mind was made up.
Excellent clubs at an excellent price, defo recommend them.
    Any more q's fire ahead:)

Yeah I have practiced with them and am now in their team so I am thrilled with that. We played a game last week in Garden Trophy against Arklow and won so all is well. Onwards and upwards.

    Ok back to these irons:

Did you get custom fitted for these or just go with regular fit ?
I put them ahead in the looks department over the Titleist hands down so no issue there.

I just need to see if anyone out there has mp62, I have heard great reports on the mp57 and even hit them again today they were savage. Would like to know more in the their differences, website doesnt really compare too much against 57 v 62.

    Thanks again JCDUB

The 62's are a tour spec iron with a slightly more compact head, smaller sweet spot, no offset and more feel.

The 57's are full cavity, with gradual offset, and would be more forgiving. May be a better choice for anyone over a 5 handicap.

Both great irons, hope that helps.

Nah I didn't get custom fitted as I am 5' 11" which would be fairly standard height and I grip the club in the right place.

Also when I had my swing analysed I asked about loft and lie and was told I have a textbook setup:D so didn't need fitted clubs.

Seriously though I didn't need any adjustments to lie or loft so all good, just bought them off the shelf with the True Temper S300 shafts.

Bought them week after Christmas and have recently (last 2 weeks) been creasing the irons, an absolute delight to strike, confidence has ballooned after a shoite winter of golf, am delighted with them, roll on the summer.

Well done on the Metro, good news man, ya gotta keep me posted on this and let me know how the garden of Ireland thing is going, that sounds like a deadly competition to be involved in.

Jun Scr cup in Portmarnock links on Paddys day, 18 holes, €60, not going myself I dont think but would recommend it if you can get up!

There ya go Buachaill, f22 knows his stuff, he's an equipment freak, isn't that right Fergal??:D

Judging from above post I reckon the 57's are the right choice for me, glad I went for them. Actually went for them beccause of Mizuno websites comparison of the two, which was basically what f22 said but said in a less blunt way so as not to turn anybodyy off the 62's

The 62's seem to be set up for the lowest of low handicaps, up to you obviously though..

On a side note i am going to be investing in a set of Mp-67 irons in the next few months. What are Mc Guirks like for trading in your old set? Do they cut the price much on new irons??

Thanks Guys for ur posts !!

McGuirks would be like all shops for trade-ins ....average. They rather just sell u the new clubs without any hassle and this is reflected in your price. I reckon Adverts is your only man for best price and then haggle with McGuirks for a discount. Win both ways.

JCDUB the garden trophy is brilliant. Its just like a warm up to the Barton etc so gets you playing earlier in the season competitively. Really good fun with a bit less pressure.

Everything points at the mp57's to be fair, when i went on to review sites to compare both of these I was getting all sorts of handicappers hitting the 62's and saying how great they were so it was confusing me a little.

Right now for the custom fit, anybody any suggestions ?
I know Carton house but anywhere on the Southside ??
Am i right in saying the guy in Dun Laoghaie Golf club is a Mizuno Custom fitter??

I have a friend who owns a custom fitting place in Blackrock. Here is the website:
    http://www.profitgolfireland.com/home/default.asp

Tell him Danny from Forrest Little sent you there if you go!!

I dont actually know buachaill, but i know Fergal(F22) has got it done with him. Fergie can you update us please?

Can't remember off hand what it costs. Basically got a swing analysis done, lofts, lies etc. Had forged irons already so got them adjusted slightly.

Friend was working there so got all the specs for driver fitting so I pretty much know what loft and shaft specs work for me now.

What I will say is, if you're spending a considerable amount of money, get it done properly in somewhere like ForeGolf.

Alternatively if you are of standard height, swing speed etc and can pick up forged clubs cheaply (online) just get them adjusted (ProFit in Blackrock for example) and save a few quid.

Phone about and get an idea on costs.

All good advice above, I got the fitting done for free but I was getting a driver re-shafted and a couple of other things so it was sort of included in the price.

That was pro-fit in Blackrock by the way, the place damow247 mentioned above^^^^

As regards trading in clubs, McGuirks wouldn't even make me an offer, just said no we can barely sell new clubs let alone second hand, so you'll be lucky to get offered anything on trade-in I reckon.

BTW I see MP57's are back up to €599 in McGuirks, if I was you I'd say "I saw them for €499 a few weeks ago, what can you do??" and I'm sure they'll at least match the price for you.

I play with a set of MX 23 with a fim shaft i think Mizuno irons are the best built in the world.
