* UKTV will rebrand UKTV Style and UKTV Style +1 on channels 246 and 247

Thanks. Mostly rebrands. Nothing worth getting too excited about. Cant see the RTE stuff happening though.

Only thing of note is Paramount rebranding as Comedy Central.

As for UKTV channels, well, they've completely lost the plot after the successful change from UKTV G2 to Dave.

No, don't think so.

Though I think Paramount Comedy is only available in UK and Ireland. Seems to be called Comedy Central elsewhere in Europe.

It appears there was "The Comedy Channel" that existed before Paramount launched though.

Discovery have announced that they will launch a Discovery Shed on March 20th.

Ch 4 are planning a Film 4 HD although no launch date announced yet. They are also extending the transmission by 2 hours for Film 4 in March.

Film 4 is rubbish anyway. There's usually much better films on Channel 4 and E4 and the BBCs.

Film 4 has very good films. Just not enough of them. Very good quality channel considering its FTA.

Film 4 HD would be alright, assuming it'll be FTA. Be another Freesat HD channel too, I'd presume.

According to DS News, Paramount Comedy 2 will become Comedy Central Extra (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/broadcasting/a147040/paramount-comedy-to-become-comedy-central.html)

It was called Paramount (or Paramount Channel) they used to show all sorts of programmes, then dropped everything bar the sit coms and became Paramount Comedy ... They'd a really good teletext service in the days before the interwebs, I used to phone 'em and leave messages

That's correct. Sky launched it in 1991 using BSB's back catalogue of comedy programmes, mostly from the BBC. As this was before the "Sky Multi Channels package" era the channel was only available to those who subscribed to both Sky Movies and The Movie Channel. The launch of UK Gold marked its demise as UK Gold got the rights to the BBC programmes. It was replaced by Sky Movies Gold.
