Speaker Question

Hey Guys! I recently upgraded from a set of passive Tannoy Reveals to a pair of Active Yamaha HS80ms. I love the Yamahas but they seem to pick up a bit of noise from the computer, like little noises when accessing a hdd etc. Im using a standard instrument cable to connect my interface (ESI ESP1010) to the monitors, should I be using a different cable?

Something slightly more robust me thinks.

Ivan, you're incorrect. That's speaker cable used between amp and speaker which if used would, in all likelihood, make the problem worse .

The solution might be, depending on your Monitor out source, balanced cables- either XLR to XLR (provided you have them) or trs balanced jack to XLR.

Also how you run the cables matters, have the run as short as possible and as far from the computer as possible.

Cheers Paul! I'll try and pickup 2 trs balanced jack to XLR cables over the weekend and see if it sorts it out :)

Try tidying up the cable run first using the most direct run avoiding running parallel to mains cables and away from your computer.
