Ford Focus alarm problem

    Hi folks.

I have a 07 Ford Focus Zetec. The alarm has been giving me problems. It goes off for no reason at all. The only way to prevent the alarm from going off is to leave the doors unlocked. The dealer thinks its the bonnet switch that is causing the problem. While I'm waiting for the part to come in, I'm wondering does anybody know if it is possible to lock the doors without arming the alarm?

    Thanks.

I'd imagine it must be possible to use the central locking, deadlocks and immob. whilst the alarm is disabled.

I'd politely but firmly ask your dealer to do it for you.

    Is it an aftermarket alarm?
I didn't think the focus came with an alarm as standard....

Not sure to be honest. I didn't realise there was an alarm until it started giving me problems. When it goes off its the sound of the horn with the indicator lights flashing.

What do you press to lock and alarm the car? It should be a button on the key.

Yeah its the lock button on the key. I usually press it twice to double lock it. Even just pressing it once alarms it. I wonder if I lock it by turning the key in the drivers door will it alarm it? Until the problem is fixed I would like to able to lock the doors.

Just locking with the key shouldn't alarm it.
I'm pretty sure there's a part in the manual that covers it..

I'll give it a go this evening and see what happens. I will also have a look at the manual when I get home.

Sometimes my alarm activates when I have the bonnet open or I am filling up with petrol - I think if you leave it unlocked with the doors closed and engine off, it seems to lock and alarm itself.
