Planet X Self Build Experience/Questions

    Hi all,

I went ahead and ordered from Planet X after reading all the positive and negative experiences of users on here. Basically it's a hard deal to beat so I was willing to risk the possible poor customer service in event of problems. Everything arrived EXCEPT for skewers, rear derailleur hanger and gear cable barrell adjusters, only noticed the final 2 last night when I set about building the thing. Have gotten a decent response and received the skewers within 2 days of informing them of the problem.

My first question(there'll probably be more re headset!) is regarding the BB(an FSA MegaExo). Should there be a rubber o-ring between the BB shell and the bearing cups? There's 1 ring with the BB but not sure if there should be 1 on each side or none at all! I'm following the logic of the diagram at the bottom of page 3 of this doc http://road.fullspeedahead.com/downloadfly.aspx?download=downloads/Install_MegaExoAlloy.pdf so think there should be none.

All hints in the right direction will be hugely appreciated. I really just want to get out for a spin on the yoke at this stage.....

Cheers for that, I'll do some more googling over the weekend and see if I can find out anything else. Still waiting for them to send me the bits they left out of the order so don't think I will get out on it this weekend. :(

2 things to watch out for.
    1. Use a torque wrench to apply 10 N/m to crank pinch bolts. My crank came loose today as I had only used a multitool to tighten it originally. As a matter of interest I tested the torque applied after firmly twisting the multi tool and discovered it was only 2 N/m. Lesson learned.
    2. After wet spin today I stood the bike on the back wheel and noticed muddy water dripping from both chain stay drain holes. Discovered it was seeping in between seat post and seat tube. So I greased the seat post and packed the lip on the top of seat post clamp with grease also. I think this will stop it.

In general IMO. Good value for the money. Mine is 2008 C18. Changed the saddle after 80Km to Charge Spoon. Very stiff frame and wheels. Handlebar vibration can be tiresome on long spins compared to my Focus Cayo which is much more forgiving on rough surfaces. Ive done the same 50Km time trial on both bikes and cant identify which is quicker other than my own form or wind conditions.

Got the hanger in the post today so hopefully will get it finished this week! Regardless of how good it looks I'm sick of looking at it half built.
