Hi, Im looking at a weekend away in these 2 cities (LONDON / ROME) during the summer. Does anyone know of cheap and cheerful hotels in these cities that would be central for seeing the sights?

Cheap and cheerful accoomodation in Rome is thin on the ground, even the budget places tend to be €100 a night (if you want to be close to the sites) but maybe somebody here can help you get a bargain.

I am going to London in April and I have booked the Travelodge Tower Bridge for £39 per night. It is pretty basic accomodation but it only opened in December so it is clean and new. It is also only minutes from the Tower Hill tube station, so you aren't too far from anywhere. I booked directly on their website www.travelodge.co.uk they seem to always have rooms on sale (I have heard of people getting their rooms for £9 per night!) There are plenty of other locations, but the Tower Bridge one seems to be good value because it is new. The reviews on Trip Advisor seem mainly positive so far too.
