Have you got a cheque book? They are both on the bottom of every cheque.

Your sort code is where your account is located, so it's probably on the net. 90-00-25 is what it'd look like.

    No cheque book.

I'm trying to change banks with my employer, they pay into a BoI a/c for me, but I want to change it to AIB.

Any of your statements. The branch number on your card is your sort code. Or go to an ATM and print a mini statement. Internet banking.

No company or bank can give you an account number over the phone,it has to be posted out to you

Yes they can, I have to ring for mine all the time. They have the sort codes of every branch on their website too.

You can't do very much with just an account number and sort code. Unless someone wants to maliciously lodge money to your account.
As already said, they're on the bottom of every cheque you give to someone so it can't be that risky!

Some institutions will give you account if you confirm your identidy through asking date of birth or a security question, but my job wont give it out, only post it,data protection act apparently

I've never had any trouble with AIB, in fact I've always felt it was all too easy.

I find that if you speak to the bank offical with a west african accent it is guaranteed you will get the details you are looking for!

AIB will give it to you over the phone but you need your "Code Card" and they will ask you for one of the codes before they give it

I think it's possible to set up a direct debit from someone else's account with just their A/C number and sort code?

Like what happened to Jeremy Clarkson a while back after he gave out those details, thinking nothing could happen.
