Friend of mine does forestry rallying, local paper asked him how he manages not to be scared and maintain concentration doing 90-110 MPH on a surface where brakes are next to useless, he responded by saying that he puts a large square of black insulation tape over the speedo!!

All i can say is. Holy Crap!:eek::eek:
People think driving at ~70Mph on the motorway is scary, he was doing well over a hundred on a few of those stretches. I would love a go, although i somehow think it'd be traveling just a little bit slower:p

some driver! That road would be pretty ****ing scary at over 100mph!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,584 ✭✭✭✭Steve

    That's excellent, bloody scary too.

When I started watching it, I thought it was the sally gap!

at 1.00 when he turns onto the really tight road it gets really scary! Some great driving

    ...great stuff.

Can we consign the 'you can't go fast without rwd/2 litres+/turbo/etc etc in the rubbish bin now.

A 1600 Civic ? - I don't care what you say, and M3 would be slower down that road.

The driver clearly knows the roads extremely well! BTW this clip is 15 years old

    Nah it wouldn't ;)

But I think it is fair to say that the speed around a rallye circuit like that depends a lot more on the driver than on the car. As in me doing that in an M3 would be beaten by above driver in a 1l Corsa :D

Mark Higgins is some pilot and it's a shame he never really got a serious crack at the WRC. Not sure if it was that year's Manx rally but there's a sequence where the stage goes through a village and he's talking about the relative merits of the local chippers.

The madness that was Group B with Walter Röhrl

    oh jeebus, that's brilliant !

    01:42 - 'Dear God' !!
    01:58 - 'bit of a puncture ?'

    Ha !

Did you notice how little gear changing there is, relatively speaking ? That older generation of long-stroke engines, I guess......

This from the same man who once said that he see's the spectators as trees as if he saw them as humans he wouldn't drive so fast.

Kinda brings a new definition to tree when he says it.

Tail whipping going through the gate way after he taps the wall.

Really fearless driving from a great driver.

His driving is amazing. But I can't get my head around the spectators lining up just a few feet away from the passing car. They're almost like human crash barriers.
