It may simply be a dead battery in the remote fob.

There should be a little red light that flickers on the fob when you press it. If the light is still flickering then chances are it is not the remote.

Do you have a second spare fob that you could try?

yea i have two remotes that would usually work the central locking and turn the alarm on, the batterys seem fine, not sure what way to go about this

haven't heard the name sikura in a while! They used to be fitted as standard to the escorts (i had one in my 89 XR3i) - was not sure if they were ever fitted to focuses.

They are notorious for giving grief.

With them the CL motor in the drivers door powers the rest of them so get someone to check that one first.

Is there a key on the module of the alarm in the engine bay? If so you should have a key for it to turn it off so you can still use your car.

yea there is a key for the alarm, i can set the alarm with this but that means when i open the car door it sets it off, as the remote doesnt work , cant really be letting it go off and reaching across each time to reset it
reckon its something to do with the locks ?

I was literally just about to post asking the same thing about my falcon predator xl2 alarm. (well, a very similar problem anyway!)

It started happening a while ago, the alarm would arm from the fob but I couldn't, for love nor money, get it to disarm from the fob. I just used the key in the lock to open the car. Alarm didn't go off so I thought that was odd. About 10 mins into journey the alarm would go off just while driving along/stuck at lights and the fob would disarm the alarm.

This continued for a while, sometimes it would arm from the fob, sometimes not, but it would kind of 'go asleep' and then wake up when I was on the road. Eventually gave up and have been leaving the alarm off. I've looked around for loose wires etc. but I'm not exactly sure where to look. I've poked around the brain part and made sure all connections are tight. Fob LED is still strong and bright (on both fobs).

    Any ideas...anyone?

PS: sorry for hijacking, but they are pretty similar problems, and solutions to one might inform the other.
